Zardozi Magazine Feature

This post is a little overdue, but with the hum drum of the holidays, and with recently being in rehearsals for the music video shoot of “Empire Vampire” for The Goodnight Darlings it didn’t dawn on me until now that the interview I did with Zardozi Magazine months ago was published. So here it is, better late than never, the Fall/Winter 2014 issue, pages 96-97. Check them out and support them. Thank you Zardozi Magazine for the feature and beautiful write-up. I hope to keep spreading the word of health, positivity, and happiness in 2015!

May Blogger Spotlight

Hello again I’m back! I had to take two weeks off from Little Bliss Book to refocus my attention due to a packed filming and work schedule and projects I’ve been working on, but not a day would go by that I would not think about writing or connecting with you all. Over the past few months I was able to connect with a great blogger named Jay of raiseyourself.net. He has a great message and is this month’s featured blogger.

But first, what is Monthly Blogger Spotlights?

blogger spotlight

It’s a way to introduce great blogs of all different genres here on Little Bliss Book. The featured blogger will be featured in the sidebar for the month and also get a shout out on the Little Bliss Book Facebook page. You can submit your blog yourself or nominate someone. Here’s how it works…

The rules are simple:

1) Are we friends? If you’re following Little Bliss Book via WordPress, Email and one other blogging platformFacebook/Bloglovin/Google +/Pinterest you can submit even if you’re self-hosted or a blogger on Blogspot.

2) Contact me! Click on ‘Contact’ at the top of this page on the menu bar and briefly explain what your blog is about like this:

I’m a Bliss follower, yoga and DIY enthusiast, Amateur Chef focused on Gluten-soy-free clean eating, and eczema-free living

Mention who your general audience is, something interesting about you, and if you could follow your bliss what would it be and why.

3) Send me a quote! Who doesn’t love a good quote. I like bottling words of wisdom and inspiration and making it sharable to everyone so send in a quote to feature as well.

Here’s what Jay had to say…

1) The main audience for my blog are those who are looking for more out of life and are sick and tired of the normal routine of going to work and coming back home, just as I did. I am hoping that my blog will provide people with the necessary motivation and inspiration to make some positive changes in their lives. I feel the World will be a much better place if everyone started to feel much better about themselves by being more positive through self development and awareness.
2) Something interesting about me, mmmm! I am a pescatarian and I like to wear cardigans! I just bought a new cardigan over the weekend! I truly believe that anyone can make it in life as long as they have a burning desire in knowing what they want and going after it. All we need to know is our purpose in life.
3) My bliss would be to live life to its absolute fullest, by being able to do whatever I want whenever I want and not having to worry about job/work commitments. I feel that way I will have more control over my life, rather than be dictated to on what my life should be and how I should be living it.
4) A quote that I love and that always makes my hairs stand on end, is a quote by the late Steve Jobs:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011)

This month’s Blogger Spotlight goes to Jennifer of Apartment Wife. Jennifer has a great positive attitude about life and her cheerful blog reflects that. She’s married to her best friend and documents everything and every inspiration a long the way. I asked Jennifer some questions about following her bliss and here’s what she had to say:

Screen shot 2014-04-10 at 9.52.36 AM

I live life heart-first. All that following my heart business (before my head) has gotten me into some pretty big messes, but it’s also inspired some of my happiest moments and greatest accomplishments. I have a background in art and social work, and I blog about happiness, creativity, and the things that matter most. Writing has always been my bliss, and I recently started writing first book- wish me luck J

Favorite quote:

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.— John Burroughs

Good luck Jennifer on your first book! I’ll be asking for a signed copy ;)

So want to be featured for May? Don’t hesitate to enter, I’ll be looking forward to reading your submissions.

What’s your blog about?

I’m keeping a blog that follows my first 90 days on the specific carbohydrate diet (SCD), because when I decided to embark on this extremely tough diet, it was the most challenging thing I’d had to do in a long time – and all I really wanted was to know how it *felt* to be on this diet every day for 90 days. I couldn’t really find anything like that, so I decided to create it myself, for anyone else who is doing SCD or thinking of doing it. It’s also helping me stick to my 90-day commitment, by committing to a daily blog post, and it’s something that I’ll definitely continue afterwards. My honest, detailed daily account could, I believe, be really helpful to others who are unsure, apprehensive or just needing support on this diet.

What’s something interesting about yourself?

Interesting about me. Hmmm. I live in Cape Town and I’ve travelled all over the world. My favorite childhood memory is of my dad leaving two-finger Kit Kats or boxes of Smarties next to the TV, every Saturday morning, for my sister and I, for when we’d get up early to watch TV. My first job was on a radio station, and I would give my left kidney to see the Spice Girls in concert (yes, even now!). I came out when I was 27 and I shocked my whole family and most of my friends. They all recovered and now I have a wonderful partner and no one can remember a time before her. I like to make sandwiches out of two slices of fresh cucumber and a cooked egg yolk (this is a no-judge zone, right?), and the best baker I know is my Dad. I miss his raisin cake soooo much! I suck at frying eggs but I am proud to have mastered cooking a good steak. I can do push ups and ‘wiggle’ my eyeballs.

Follow your bliss…

If I could follow my bliss, I’d move to Thailand and spend my days fulfilling my copywriting commitments on the beaches of Koh Phangang. Both the Thai cuisine and the climate agrees with me beautifully.

My favorite quotes – I have a few:

Transformation is not a future event; it’s a present day activity – Jillian Michaels
Your health is your responsibility – Jillian Michaels
What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.
You get what you give – The New Radicals

New Blogger Spotlight!

A good blog can be hard to come by when there’s so many blogs out there and growing a readership can be even harder if you’re a niche blogger. You can secretly hope that your blog will be found in the abyss of blogs on the blogosphere but sometimes without the help of social media and a little selfless promotion you can get lost. I’m always looking for new blogs to read, and fresh ideas to inspire me. I always like to know what pages the bloggers I follow are reading because after all, like-minded bloggers will probably also have similar interests in blogs they want to follow as well. So I thought it’d be a neat idea to do Blogger Spotlights. Blogger Spotlight is open to EVERYONE and you can submit by the last Saturday of the month 11:59PM EST.

little bit about me and why I blog…

I was born with an autoimmune disease which affects my immune system. Most people will not have a single food allergy in their life, while others may have one or two items they may be sensitive to. I have a running list, probably over 40 items, I think I lost count. But the numbers don’t really matter because I try to focus on the things I can have rather than the things I can’t. I started off making this blog about eating cleanrecipes, and how to start a detox, and slowly I started doing product reviews on food productsskincare and eczema, sharing stories and discoveries I’ve made on new restaurants or at the farmer’s market.

So this month I’ve decide to feature Erica who has a similar story to mine from Edible Attitudes. She’s a teenager in high school and shares her story on A Teenager’s Perspective on Food Restrictions: A Practical Guide to Keep from Going Crazy. Check her out.

Honorable Mentions! I was nominated by some great bloggers a while back for some blogger awards that I’d like to mention. Be sure to give them some blog lovin as well.
